Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk on company’s long-term plans said, in future, the main priorities of the company will be to expand its vehicle offerings by covering all the major forms of terrestrial transport. The offerings may include commercial vehicles like high passenger-density urban transport and heavy-duty trucks.
Tesla was in early stage of development, when it announced its plans for these vehicles last year and they are expected to be unveiled in the year 2017. However, when there was no information on Tesla’s passenger vehicle, Musk on Twitter said on Thursday that the “Tesla Semi” (heavy-duty truck) is all set to unveil in September.
Apart from Tesla, Mercedes-Benz has already started production of Urban eTruck, which is an all-electric heavy-duty truck.
Tesla is all ready to catalyze manufacturers and consumers to transition to electric vehicles more rapidly by coming up with compelling electric vehicles to market and Semi is a key part of this plan. On other hand, investors are keeping a sharp eye on pricing, which could particularly impact on the company’s business, when it’s unveiled in September.
Musk tweeted, “Tesla Semi truck unveil set for September. Team has done an amazing job. Seriously next level.”
